About the garden

Prepare to be blown away. Originating from a vivid dream, held by a group of friends, to create an exclusive destination in outstanding surroundings to enjoy with others, Johannesdal achieves exactly this and is a South African hidden gem.

Nestled in the magnificent mountain range of Banhoek Valley is this farmhouse turned leading venue for holiday-makers and gatherings, boasting simplistic yet modern and luxurious design. But it’s the outdoors and gardens that really make this special place. Cleverly being developed to blend with the interior are sweeping green lawns and gardens featuring exotic African planting and styles. Relax by the tranquil Lily ponds in the secluded Waterlily garden, enjoy the refreshing citrus scent of the beautiful Lemon orchards and marvel at the breathtaking views from the two spacious garden terraces.

Every October, members of the public are welcomed into the gardens during Garden Week. Johannesdal is also home to a huge hall with floor-to-ceiling windows and a soundproof reception area which are available to hire.

Johannesdal is without a doubt my favourite Cape Winelands wedding venue. The venue is an architectural marvel, surrounded by the a mountain backdrop very few venues can compete with. Once you step on site, you escape the hustle and bustle and will find yourself in a tranquil piece of heaven. With a variety of ceremony set-up options and a spectacular open reception hall to transform to your heart's desires this venue ticks all the boxes. The cherry on top is Johnny Hamman who will delight you and all your guests with his exceptional culinary skills. Look no further, Johannesdal is a bride's (and photographer!) dream come true.

Breathtaking mountain views, beautiful gardens, such a romantic venue! The perfect wedding venue where you can have the entire celebration on-site; the ceremony, pre-drinks and reception.

Beautiful green venue... Winter or Summer, a lovely function venue. Classy, vintage but rustic, fresh air and breathtaking views. this place can be used as is or made up to fit any theme. The kitchen (catering)needs some additional equipment to be fully functional but it's nice and spacious.
