About the garden

The Abbey is set within the remains of the formal and semi-formal gardens which were once the pride and joy of the Tate and Bouverie families. There’s a large walled garden, superb specimen trees in the understated arboretum; the hidden remains of a splendid water garden, and the south lawn which stretches out to the ha-ha, which separates the lawn from the 500 acres of the wider parkland and the golf course beyond.

There’s so much to see from the colourful flowers to the ancient trees and mature shrubs carefully tended by the gardener, grounds maintenance teams and of course the many volunteers. In the wider parkland, Visitos can enjoy a stroll around Delapre Lake and see the local wildlife on the way.

The Walled Garden is open from 8am

Lovely place, suitable for whole family, great cafe, wide selection of cakes and ice creams, free parking, wonderful grounds to explore, including walled garden. Highly recommended.

Been promising myself to visit for ages having listened to people who have visited on the local radio. What a lovely place wonderful parkland with a lake which sadly we never had time to visit and a nice walled garden. The Abbey and addictional buildings looked very well kept. There is a doggy walkers coffee outlet and a cafe with a good choice of foods to eat in or out. The park has easy access and free parking. They also host event weekends . Willie returning very soon.

Lovely walks and very nice cream tea - eventually! They sat me at an empty table in the Orangery, then forgot to take my order, so I had to ask at the counter for someone to take my order ☹️. Worth the very long wait but not the rude waitress who delivered it.
