About the garden

Immerse yourself in the beauty, romance and history of Cholmondeley Castle Gardens, with over 70 acres of gardens and parkland to discover. The Cheshire landscape becomes a showcase for the late Lady Cholmondeley’s love and talent for horticulture.

Stroll between beautiful herbaceous borders on the Lavinia Walk. Breathe in the scent of over 250 flowers in the Rose Garden. The Daffodils alone are worth a visit in spring, but you shouldn’t miss the impressive collection of Magnolias, while later in the season Rhododendrons and Camellias bring a vibrant kick of colour to the grounds and wildflower meadows beyond are buzzing with life. In the autumn, it’s the Temple Garden where visitors flock, to see Maples and Magnolias around the two lakes come to fiery life.

When it’s time for a cup of tea and a piece of homemade cake, drop into the Tea Room. You can also get a glimpse of the 19th century castle (a private residence) from a distance along the Deer Park Mere and Natural Trail. If your visit to Cheshire gives you time, The Cholmondeley Arms is on hand for pies and pints.

Lovely gardens and grounds. Nice walk out to the Chapel. Plenty of bluebells at the moment. Lots of pools and running water. No access to the house but the cafe and staff are excellent. Superb bacon sandwich and great range of cakes.

Fantastic gardens, real hidden gem that we happened upon almost by accident as we're not local to the area. Wonderful grounds, peaceful and exceptionally planted and maintained. The café was pretty good too so all-in-all, you'll not be disappointed.

Very relaxing walk through the castle gardens, quite a few things to see. £8.50 for adults, £4 for 15s and under. Would recommend taking a look around for an afternoon or so.

Marquess of Cholmondeley private residence. Somehow it is not open to the public. But the 19th century castle from outside and beautiful gardens are worth to visit. Cricket grounds and nice cafe on site- Chehire cheese and ice cream selection. Enjoy
