About the garden

With reinvented ways of living that support the wellbeing of people and the planet, wine-tasting and weekly drive-in cinemas on offer, a Tree House playground to ignite the kids’ imagination and stunning natural scenery to admire, all through a unique South African lens, Boschendal is a farm like no other.

Within the 2,000-hectare space, a range of natural and formal gardens also await visitors. See Roses in full bloom during summer, watch The Orchard - bursting with Plums in spring - transition to a dazzling display of autumn colour and experience the popular Werf Food Garden. Don’t forget to visit the Farm Shop – the place to go for locally sourced meat, eggs, fruit and vegetables.

Younger guests can enjoy a guided authentic farm experience and learn about botany and animal care while adults run or hike along the many trails, discover the story of the farm through a guided tour or indulge in a delicious farm-to-plate meal at The Deli.

We stayed in Franschoek for a couple of days over the Easter weekend with friends. Other friends that have been before suggested we take the tram for a wine tour. With various options available we picked a route that included Boschendal. It was our second stop and saw, at our arrival, the bubbly and oyster pairing. Unforgettable!!!! We had oysters at other places over that same weekend but could not be compared with this. Our only regret was not staying longer to explore more!! Well done Boschendal!!!!!!

Amazing estate. Everything is perfect for a great stay. I had a very well decorated Chalet. A nice place to enjoy for one or two nights.

I remember gasping for my breath the first time that I drove through Boschendal's majestic trees. I just love the atmosphere here. The food and service are also, always excellent. I just love the new night atmosphere and that they also have drive-in nights now. Such a wonderful addition to the wonderful Boschendal atmosphere. We just love it!

A great little wine farm. Was live music in the garden when there. The shop is nicely stocked with deli items and fresh foods and wine. Gardens were not as big as I expected as all the articles said they were amazing. Loved the wine Christmas tree. Didn’t do the wine tasting. The home decor gift shop was lovely to browse.
