Peruvian Daffodil Overview
Ismene is a genus containing around 11 bulbous perennial species in the Amaryllidaceae family. This genus originates from Peru and Equador in South America and is widely cultivated in other areas for their showy, ornamental blooms. Flowers are large and spider-like, coloured white or yellow and these plants are often confused with species in the genus Hymenocallis. Historically Ismene species were included in the genus Hymenocallis, but to due to reclassification, Ismene is now considered its own distinct genus.
