Fuchsia 'Genii' Overview
Fuchsia 'Genii' is a bushy, medium-sized deciduous shrub that stands erect to over a metre tall. Its small, single flowers comprise a slender cerise tube and reddish-purple petals. They are prolific and make a wonderful show from summer into autumn. The leaves are light yellow-green and it has contrasting red stems. Fuchsia 'Genii' is hardy, low-maintenance and versatile plant; seen in borders of cottage, coastal and courtyard gardens alike. It also makes a good patio pot or container plant. It is best grown in a sheltered position and performs best when grown in full sun or partial shade, with moist and fertile soil. Provide some protection from cold, drying winds and water regularly during the growing season. Feed once a month with a balanced feed. Trim back older plants in spring to their woody framework and pinching out the tips of new growth will help the plant bush out and increase flower production. This lovely cultivar has earned a coveted 'RHS Award of Garden Merit'. It is also on the RHS 'Plants for Pollinators' list highlighting plants that produce large amounts of nectar and/or pollen. A great choice for encouraging beneficial insect wildlife into your garden!
