Eastern Cyclamen Overview
Grows to 10cm with leaves that are round to heart-shaped, dark green and frequently marbled with light green or silver. The abundant winter or early spring flowers vary from pale purple to deep pink and are often stained at the base. Subsp. caucasicum has leaves marbled with silver; the dark pink flowers are stained dark red at the base. Subsp. coum also has dainty pink to dark red flowers. The Latin epithet coum refers to the Aegean island of Kos (pronounced co-um). Native to the Balkans, Turkey and Lebanon.
