    Autumn Crocus Overview

Native to Italy, this hybrid perennial has coarse strap-shaped leaves and rose-pink, goblet-shaped flowers. It is free-flowering, and grows to 15cm in height. Its flowers, which grow to 6cm in length, have crimson-violet stigma-lobes, making this a popular choice in bulb-frames or alpine houses. Like Colchicum species, all parts are highly toxic if ingested, and may cause skin irritation.
