Chinese Plumbago Overview
Ceratostigma willmottianum is a spreading, deciduous shrub that brings welcome colour to the garden in late summer/early autumn. This plant has earned a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit. Masses of vivid cobalt-blue flowers appear from August to October (UK) and then in autumn, this shrub gives a second burst of colour when its leaves turn a rich russet-red.

This low maintenance plant is best in towards the front of a sheltered, sunny border in soil that does not get too dry. It is perfect for banks and slopes of cottage gardens but equally suits containers in Mediterranean style gardens.
