Hardy Blue-Flowered Leadwort Overview

Ceratostigma plumbaginoides is a herbaceous perennial with a low-growing habit. It has spreading roots which form a dense mat-covering of stems and oval, green leaves. Leaves display attractive autumn colouration, developing into red and purple shades. attractive blue flowers are produced from late summer, these are arranged in clusters and have 5 petals. This species is part of the Royal Horticultural Society “Plants for Pollinators” initiative to showcase plants which support pollinator populations by providing ample amounts of nectar and/ or pollen.
