Furze Overview
This genus contains 15 hardy, thorny, evergreen shrub species, which almost completely lack leaves. They appear evergreen due to year-round green shoots and spikes, and are grown ornamentally for their yellow flowers. Flowers are pea-like and may be produced almost all year in mild climates. This genus is adapted to dry conditions, and would suit planting as a shrub border. In some locations, species from this genus are considered invasive due to their assertive seed dispersal method.
