Chinese Wisteria Overview
Wisteria sinensis is a twining vine that requires sturdy support and regular pruning to keep it under control. It is a deciduous woody plant capable of growing over 10m in height. Commonly known by the names Chinese Wisteria or Wisteria. Grow in full sun to partial shade and moist, well-draining soil. The highly scented blue-purple flowers make it a favourite for pergolas, covering a frame in no time and providing shade in hot summer months. Flowers appear from mid-spring. The leaves drop to allow sun through during cold winter months. A perfect companion to many outdoor areas. Leaves are pinnately divided into between 7-13 leaflets.

How to propagate Chinese Wisteria
Cuttings
Take cuttings from softwood (green) or hardwood(brown) cuttings and treat like any other cutting.
Seed
Soak seeds overnight in hot water, plant with river sand. Sow to a depth of the same diameter as the seed. Transplant when the second leaf has emerged. Seed raised takes longer to flower.
Layering
