Mountain Clematis Overview
Clematis montana is a deciduous, early flowering, very vigorous, large climbing species in the Ranunculaceae family. Foliage is divided into a trifoliate arrangement comprised of 3 leaflets, these are coloured dark green. In late spring to early summer it produces white-pink flowers measuring to up 7cm across. These are followed by attractive fluffy seed heads in autumn. This plant has earnt a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit.
