St. John's Wort Overview
Hypericum is a large genus containing around 458 species of annuals, herbaceous perennials and evergreen or deciduous shrubs or trees in the Hypericaceae family with a worldwide distribution in a range of zones and habitats. They produce showy yellow flowers with prominent stamens, followed by berry-like seed capsules. Known commonly as St John’s Wort, several species are popular garden plants and there are many cultivars and hybrids available.
