Zebra Plant Overview

Aphelandra squarrosa is an evergreen shrub species with attractive, white-veined, oval-shaped leaves and showy yellow flowers. They make popular houseplants for both their flowers and glossy, patterned foliage. Commonly called a Zebra Plant after the showy leaves, similar to the stripes of a zebra. Flowers are surrounded by bright yellow, modified leaves, called bracts. This plant is native to Brazil and found in tropical climates. Well suited to placement in a bathroom with higher humidity. Be careful as the common name Zebra Plant is shared with other, unrelated species and may lead to confusion!
