Rocket Aloe Overview

Aloiampelos gracilis was previously known as Aloe gracilis. It is a succulent perennial plant from the Asphodelaceae family. Commonly known as Rocket Aloe, this plant is endemic to the Cape Province regions of South Africa. It may be found growing naturally in on rocky outcrops, dry thicket and bushy fynbos environments around Port Elizabeth and into the Baviaanskloof mountains. It can reach 2m in height, branching at the base, leaves are succulent and coloured green, with small teeth along the edges. Flowers are long, borne on tall stems above the foliage and they are coloured bright red-orange.
