Water Hyacinth Overview

Eichhornia is a small genus of around 6 prolific, aquatic, evergreen or semi-evergreen perennials, commonly known as water hyacinth. This genus originates from South America and species from it are considered invasive, across subtropical and tropical climates they are problematic as they will completely cover water bodies if left unchecked and outcompete local flora. Around 30 flowers are arranged on a single spike and they are light pastel pink-purple in colour, with 6 petals.
