Cockscomb Overview

Celosia is a genus of roughly 50 perennial species from subtropical and tropical regions in Asia, Africa and North, Central and South America. They are often grown as ornamental annuals, typically favoured for their plume-like inflorescences and attractive foliage. This genus is well-known by the Swahili name mfungu and the common name Cockscomb, it contains many edible species that are cultivated as food, particularly in India and Indonesia.
