American Rubber Plant Overview
Peperomia obtusifolia is an evergreen perennial that has succulent, leathery, leaves and green-white flowers, borne on spikes. Commonly known by the names American Rubber Plant, Baby Rubber Plant and Oval-Leaf Peperomia. American Rubber Plants produce fleshy leaves and plants with variegated foliage are also popular as houseplants. Its heart-shaped foliage is relatively slow-growing but highly attractive, also produces small white flowers on spikes. It is tender and won't cope with freezing temperatures, provide with bright, partial shade and water infrequently. This species has earnt a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit.
