Mugwort Overview
Artemisia is a large genus comprising annuals, perennials, shrubs and sub-shrubs. They can be evergreen or deciduous and are cultivated mainly for their fern-like silvery foliage. Often found in prairies and other dry areas in the Northern hemisphere, they like temperate climates. Some come from South Africa and South America. Chemically they contain a variety of substances, contributing strong aromas and a bitter taste, and some species are used for culinary or medicinal purposes. In domestic situations, they suit herb gardens, rock gardens and borders.
