Navelwort Overview
Widely distributed in the temperate zone of the Northern Hemisphere, this genus of around 9 species of annual, biennial or perennial herbaceous plants is in the Boraginaceae family. They are clump or mat-forming, creeping plants with simple leaves and blue or white flowers resembling those of the related forget-me-not. In their native habitat they are found in woodlands and commonly cultivated species such as O. cappadocia, or the Cappadocian navelwort, prefer a shady position in moist soil.
