Coleus Overview

Coleus scutellarioides is an easy to grow perennial plant from the Lamiaceae family. It tolerates long periods of heat, it is often grown as an annual. Its intense colours stand out well in any garden, with its copper, fiery reds. They can be planted up in both shaded or sunny areas making them great for adding to borders and containers. Many cultivars have been developed from this species, with a range of colourful and patterned leaves. This plant is known by many names including Solenostemon scutellarioides. Their name change was announced by NATAG (RHS Nomenclature and Taxonomy Advisory Group) in the March 2021 edition of The Plant Review.
