Common Restharrow Overview
Ononis repens is a woody perennial plant from the Fabaceae family. Commonly known by the names Common Restharrow, Creeping Restharrow and Restharrow, amongst others. Common Restharrow produces pretty pea-like, pink flowers in the summer, typically growing to around 60cm tall. It spreads through underground rhizomes and has a low-growing, spreading habit. Many species in this genus are known by the common name Restharrows, some are considered weeds. They are found growing naturally across Europe. Ononis repens produces hairy foliage and oval-shaped leaves with toothed margins. It may produce soft spines, but these are not significant compared to the related species Ononis spinosa.
