Snowgrass Overview
The genus Chionochloa contains about 25 clumping, evergreen, perennial grasses from the Poaceae family. Chionochloa plants are also termed Snowgrass. These are distributed mainly in New Zealand, with some species found in other locations nearby like New Guinea and Australia's Lord Howe Island. Common reasons for growing include their overall graceful appearance, colourful foliage and delicate flowers. The flowers are very small and feathery, borne on taller stems above the leaves.
