Leymus Overview
This genus has about 40 species of rhizomatous perennial grasses, forming clumps of upright foliage. Leaves are narrow often with inrolled edges. They have basal leaves and rounded flower stems that bear alternate long, narrow leaves. The flowers are bisexual with males and females in the same spikelet, each flowering head comprises of spikelets, with one or more florets, that are covered with glumes or scales.
