Bleeding Heart Overview
Dicentra is a genus of around 8 hardy perennial herbaceous species with ornate, uniquely-shaped hanging flowers and divided foliage. Originally from Eastern Asia and North America, this genus resides in the Papaveraceae family. Some of these species have been hybridised and cultivated extensively for use in gardens due to their interesting flowers. They are characterised by the production of flowers on stems coming directly from the roots.
