Corn salad Overview
Valerianella is a genus of herbaceous plants in the honeysuckle family native to Europe, North Africa, Western Asia and the USA. It contains around 45 species and the most usually cultivated one is Valerianella locusta, commonly known as corn salad. It has been eaten in Europe for centuries where it was foraged from the wild by peasants and is now grown extensively as a cultivated crop for winter salads.
