Californian Fuchsia Overview
Epilobium canum is a bushy, semi-evergreen shrub that grows to around 40cm tall and wide and produces masses of long, vivid red, tubular flowers on upright stems, which resemble those of Fuchsias. It flowers in late summer to early autumn. It has small, linear, matt green leaves. Also known as Californian Fuchsia or Humming Bird's Trumpet (and synonym Zauschneria California), this is a low-growing eyecatcher! It likes a sheltered position in full sun and well-drained soil. Suitable for most garden styles, it is particularly useful for planting on slopes and banks, is often seen growing in coastal areas and it can make a good container/patio plant.
