Weeping Willow Overview
Salix babylonica is a deciduous tree species from the Salicaceae family. It is also known by the names Babylon Willow, Babylon Weeping Willow or Weeping Willow. It can reach 25m in height, producing yellow-brown shoots bearing spiralling, alternately arranged leaves. The leaves are narrow, measuring up to 16cm long, coloured light green, with serrated edges. The foliage turns golden yellow in the autumn. Flowers form on hanging catkin structures from early spring. Salix babylonica is considered the same plant as Salix matsudana.
