Shrubby Mullein Overview
Verbascum dumulosum is an evergreen mat-forming shrub. It only grows up to 30cm in height and produces masses of short flower spikes above grey-green leaves covered in bright yellow flowers. Commonly known as Shrubby Mullein, it prefers a light alkaline soil with sun and good drainage and is ideal for including in informal cottage style mixed borders, giving a dense patch of colour. This species has earnt a Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Award of Garden Merit. It is also part of the RHS “Plants for Pollinators” initiative to showcase plants which support pollinator populations by providing ample amounts of nectar and/ or pollen. A great choice for encouraging pollinating insect wildlife into your garden!
