Hemlock Overview
A genus of medium to large evergreen conifer trees from North America and East Asia. The common name of hemlock, applied to members of the genus, is derived from the smell of its crushed foliage that resembles the unrelated Conium maculatum or poison hemlock. Tsuga, however, are not poisonous. They are usually conical in habit with a graceful drooping habit and as such are widely cultivated as attractive garden and hedging plants.
How to propagate Hemlock
Seed
You can propagate from seed sown in autumn or spring (but forms selected for leaf colour do not come true).
Cuttings
Evergreen current growth cuttings in autumn to spring. Deciduous softwood cuttings in summer.
