Weigela Overview
Weigela florida is sometimes known as just Weigela. It is a deciduous shrub species from the Caprifoliaceae family. Grown for the abundant pink blooms and attractive leaves. Grows best in full sun, but will cope with partial shade, with reduced flowering. Plant in moist, well-draining soil. Many cultivars for garden use have been developed form this species. Weigela florida ‘Variegata' is a particularly popular cultivar with attractive variegated white and green leaves.
