About the garden

Broadleaved plants and mature trees support, frame and enhance the sculpture in the beautiful grounds of the The Hannah Peschar Sculpture Garden. The Sculpture Garden was the brainchild of owner and previous curator Hannah Peschar some 38 years ago, and proudly exhibits over 200 pieces every summer. Both newly emerging and established artists from across Britain and Europe exhibit their work in these unique surroundings, allowing their sculptures to be seen in a whole new way by a global audience. Set sympathetically within the garden, each sculpture is placed and positioned with careful consideration given to its environment and other sculptures in the garden.

Surrounding a 15th century Grade 2 listed cottage, the gardens themselves are a work of art in their own right. Over the past 40 years the garden has been redesigned by award-winning landscape designer and Hannah’s husband Anthony Paul, who has introduced a variety of large-leaved architectural plants, new ponds and bold planting. Embracing the naturally damp environment fed by a large stream flowing from the Surrey Hills, the lush garden allows visitors to believe they could have been transported to some far away land.

There are no flowering borders, no neat lines - nothing is contrived. Controlled wildness is the best way to describe the planting style - giving the Sculpture Garden a feeling of magic and wonder. Infinite shades of green, fascinating shapes and textures create an inspiring dialogue with the contemporary sculptures on display throughout.

A wonderful natural garden without a tarmaced path in sight! Absolutely loved it! So green! When was the last time you had to decide whether a bridge was safe enough to use? Oh, I almost forgot, the statues were interesting too!

Tranquil watery location hidden in deepest Surrey with some beautiful sculptures, well worth a visit. Definitely consider bringing a picnic or coffee as tables & chairs dotted around and no catering on site.

Had a fantastic time walking in a quiet and serine setting looking at many pieces of sculpture. All different mediums and price ranges.

Lovely hidden gem wish weather had been sunnier to show full beauty of this spot. The only tip I would give would to try tackle the algae on the water and be able to have a coffee and a sweet treat whilst appreciating the surroundings.
