About the garden

The Arderne Gardens is a South African Provincial Heritage Site as designated by the National Monument placard near the entrance. Our 5 hectares containing more than 400 trees are directly managed by the City of Cape Town.

The garden, thanks to the extraordinary interest and commitment of its founders, also has one of the most diverse and valuable collections of exotic trees in all of South Africa. It now officially includes one of the largest trees in South Africa, the vast Moreton Bay Fig (or Wedding Tree, as it is commonly called) and quite possibly the largest Aleppo Pine in the world. These trees, along with four others, were proudly designated Champion Trees in 2008.

Beautiful garden with lovely big trees with huge roots that the kids loved playing on. Beautiful lawns, and paths around ponds. Parking is slightly limited. Litter was a bit off putting. Felt safe. All in all a lovely outing with the kids

A beautiful garden set in the suburb of Kenilworth. This garden has beautiful old trees. The garden is very well maintained. There are benches to sit on or you can relax on the lush lawns. There is a security guard at the entrance giving you peace of mind. There are public toilet facilities. The parking is in the street in Main road or one of the side streets.

Wonderful outdoor gem in the middle of Claremont. Plenty of space and shade for lovely picnics. Entry was free and a bathroom close by. What a beautiful place to relax.

Peaceful, gorgeous old trees to relax under. Best kept secret hideaway in the midst of city life! Visit and leave refreshed.

It's a lovely place. Good to bring family & friends. It's very popular with weddings for taking photos. It's dirty but , needs cleaning where necessary.
