About the garden

A unique wild garden, design both for humans and nature, with a good mix of native planting and some exotic species thrown in to really boost the pollinator population. Tanglewood aims to subvert the usual expectations of a commercial garden, so there are no catering facilities here, but plenty of spaces to spread out a picnic blanket, while children are welcome to have a go on the rope swing. However, it's worth noting that if you've really got to go, then you can go sustainably - in the on-site composting toilets!

Across these 9 acres of lake and woodland habitat, you'll find that wildlife is thriving on the garden's philosophy that 'there is no such thing as a weed'. Nettles, thistles and brambles are looked at not as weeds, but as valuable food plants for the many animals which have made Tanglewood their home.

Wow what a wonderful, little hidden gem! So full of fun while staying so natural! Lots of quirky things to see and explore for all ages, with lots of twisty little paths and plenty of surprises round every corner! Little cafe was amazing, shame they don't offer more! Can't wait to see what new things can be added! Would definitely love to re-visit and think owners should offer locals discount or reduced rate discounts to encourage return visits!

Absolutely wonderfully designed garden for kids with hidden sculptures and fun all around. Unfortunately it was a bit of a mugy day and we were badly bitten by flies so couldn't enjoy it as much as it deserved. Would advise applying insect repellent...

Fantastic eclectic and humorous garden ideal for families. Small in size, with a rabbit Warren of paths, and a humorous imagining at every turn. Plenty of games and fascination for all. Not suitable unless you can manage a small woodland park and hills.

Such a brilliant quirky place. We decided to do something different and we had such a great time. So many brilliant ideas and outdoor games. It really is a labour of love. Had some cake and pond juice in the little outdoor area and it was delicious. Was lovely talking to the owners as well and we will definitely be back.
