Howick Hall Gardens & Arboretum
Alnwick
Howick Hall Gardens & Arboretum, the ancestral seat of the Earls Grey since 1319. Discover the history of the 2nd Earl, after whom the famous tea is named, wander through the beautiful gardens created by the 5th Earl Grey and his family or for the more energetic explore the arboretum a united nations of shrubs and trees covering over 65 acres. Take a rest from exploring in the Earl Grey Tea House for a bite to eat and a cup of Earl Grey Tea.
Preston Tower
Chathill
The Preston pele tower, which is owned by GJ Baker Cresswell, was built between 1392 and 1399. The gardens around the house provide a peaceful and attractive setting for the pele tower. There are three short walks in the grounds and nearby woodland that allow visitors to see some of the interesting trees and shrubs in the grounds, which include tulip trees, walnuts, and a Gingko biloba. The woodland walk will take you through beech woods to a secluded spring. Water is pumped from the spring to a tank in the tower, and thence to the house. Visitors may also catch sight of the wildlife that lives in the grounds and woodland around Preston.

Chipchase Castle

Chipchase is a rugged border castle of the 14th century consisting of a great Pele tower with corner turrets. The Township of Chipchase is in the parish of Chollerton, some ten miles south-west of Hexham, in south-west Northumberland.
