Abbots Ripton Hall

The Abbots Ripton Estate runs up to the northern edge of Huntingdon. Abbots Ripton and Wennington are set within one of the few remaining substantial areas of woodland in Huntingdonshire. Over the last thirty years many new trees including ash, oak, lime, field maple and wild cherries have been planted by both the Abbots Ripton Estate and Parish residents, with the consequence that from the air both Abbots Ripton and Wennington appear to be set within islands of trees interlaced with 14 miles of hedges and 96 ponds.
Chippenham Park Gardens

Chippenham Park is a thriving family estate. The house, gardens, and park were created at the very end of the 17th century by Admiral Lord Russell with permission from William III. The gardens have been awarded the highest two-star rating by the Good Gardens Guide and are notable for their vast swathes of snowdrops and aconites in late winter followed by a superb spring show of daffodils, hellebores, spring bulbs and blossoms.

This 200 year-old brewery situated on the banks of the River Nene has a 4-acre garden incorporating specimen trees as old as the surrounding buildings, herbaceous borders, a lake, rockery, water features, exotic house and herb garden. Beyond the walled gardens are lawns leading to a Maze, planted with Thuja and Laurel. The gateway to the gardens is a visitor centre, incorporating a shop fully stocked with plants and other local produce plus Elgood’s memorabilia, and a bar serving tea, coffee, hot & cold snacks and a range of Elgood’s prize-winning beers.
