About the garden

A fine example of Cotswold landscaping which has been conjured from the rolling hillside by three generations of celebrated women gardeners.

Set among endless picture-perfect views, Kiftsgate Court Gardens contains gardens within gardens and each unfolds with its own distinct character. From the pretty perennial wild garden and many-hued double borders to the sleek lines of the water garden (which was a tennis court in a former life), visitors can’t help but fall for the charm of this place. For most, it’s the rose garden that clinches the deal. Home to the famous Kiftsgate rose, a beautifully scented climbing rose, which looks like a frothy waterfall tumbling down the trees it has smothered.

If you can tear yourself away from the intoxicating scent of the rose beds, there’s also a tea room, serving up delicious homemade cakes, fresh salads, and traditional afternoon teas.

A beautiful garden with some lovely roses, all with wonderful scent. (Always so disappointing when they don't smell!) As well as some lovely traditional planting and flowers there are also a couple of unexpected areas which adds to the experience, and some beautiful and far-reaching views across the surrounding countryside. Take care on the descent to the half-moon pool as it is quite uneven and a little challenging! Overall well worth a visit.

Absolutely stunning garden with a lot of comfy seating for mindfulness and meditation. July and the heatwave made the flowers bloom in full. There were so many types of gorgeous flowers. What I really missed was the descritpion of the flowers that were in full bloom and were so amazing. I captured a couple of their names but perhaps a quick round with some simple name tags put on the ones that are blooming would make it even more delightful and educational too. I would even volunteer to do it myself. Such a great place and fills you with zest for life.

This is a hidden gem with stunning views. We only found it when we saw the signs on exiting from Hidcote. Some of the paths are mot for those with mobility issues, but it would not be possible or reasonable for the owners to adapt them. I think it could be more colourful earlier in the year, but the weather this year hs caused lots of things to flower early. We loved sitting by the fountain as well as by the semi circular pond. Well worth a visit.
