Abbey set within beautiful grounds, with large woodland areas, walled garden and a lake. Free parking, and free to explore the grounds. Dogs are allowed. There is a cafe and public toilets.

Just a beautiful place. A great walk with friends or family, or with the dog, on your own...just lovely. Beautiful flowered area and gardens. Great place for a picnic. Beautiful unique trees dotted around. Lovely food served at the cafe quite expensive on some things but it's very good quality. Restaurant looks amazing too. Love coming here. Great events throughout the year too

Lovely evening walk - a surprise round every corner Only one thing wrong - no visible/illuminated signage on main road (not even for delapre abbey) went passed it twice. But we enjoyed it when we got there !!!

A jewel set inside Northampton, minutes from the M1. Delapre Abbey and the surrounding countryside, adjacent to a golf club, are very peaceful and popular with dog walkers and families alike. The walled garden is very well maintained and the tea shop always seems busy. You can arrange to take a tour around the main house, and learn the history of Delapre Abbey, its dissolution by Henry VIII, it's time when it was run by Clunaic Nuns, and the Battle of Northampton, which changed the course of British history, even if it did end in under an hour! Go visit, you won't be disappointed. I think you have to book in advance to your the house, but check the website.
