About the garden

Please note, location is hidden - map marker is within 3 miles of the garden. Actual address is revealed to visitors after booking a ticket.

Just outside the market town of Wareham in Dorset lies a newly-established secret garden, rediscovered after 40 years and transformed into a model for sustainable design. With a focus on permaculture, including edible hedgerows, no-dig vegetable beds and a new food forest, this is the perfect inspiration for environmentalists and the next generation of gardeners.

There are plenty of traditional features across the site, including an orchard, rose garden and herb garden, so open garden enthusiasts will feel at home here, too. The grounds are still under development and it’s very much in its infancy at the moment, but well worth a visit as the potential here is clear, and the beautiful reclaimed walls of the old garden are still a showpiece. There are also a number of stunning mature trees on the site, including gnarled olives, and the whole space is surrounded by woodland, rich in birdsong.
