Lovely garden

A hidden gem... the good looks from the outside hide an interesting tour of the house, artworks and artist's studio, but for me the highlight was the breathtaking gardens hidden at the rear. Spent a lovely afternoon here and will definitely be returning

Stumbled across this gem on a trip to Kirkcudbright and so pleased we did. Fascinating history of Hornel and his paintings superbly explained by the guides. The gardens to the rear are an added bonus. By coincidence there was also a display of paintings by the Glasgow Boys and Girls in the local art gallery.
