About the garden

With reinvented ways of living that support the wellbeing of people and the planet, wine-tasting and weekly drive-in cinemas on offer, a Tree House playground to ignite the kids’ imagination and stunning natural scenery to admire, all through a unique South African lens, Boschendal is a farm like no other.

Within the 2,000-hectare space, a range of natural and formal gardens also await visitors. See Roses in full bloom during summer, watch The Orchard - bursting with Plums in spring - transition to a dazzling display of autumn colour and experience the popular Werf Food Garden. Don’t forget to visit the Farm Shop – the place to go for locally sourced meat, eggs, fruit and vegetables.

Younger guests can enjoy a guided authentic farm experience and learn about botany and animal care while adults run or hike along the many trails, discover the story of the farm through a guided tour or indulge in a delicious farm-to-plate meal at The Deli.

My husband and I stayed there for a couple of nights and it was so beautiful. The grounds are very well kept and truly immaculate. We were also there for the night market, which had lots of great food stalls and a nice band. The only thing I’d have to say that I was disappointed in, was the wine tasting. As I was expecting a bit more, but perhaps it’s because we are coming from Italy and the experience doesn’t even come close. I would work on improving this. And, last but not least, we were celebrating our honeymoon and everywhere we went it was our anniversary instead. Although we had a laugh about it, wish they had gotten it right since we did provide this information way beforehand. Overall, would come again. But the devil is in the details and I think that’s what prevents this place from being a 5 star worthy experience.

We chose Boschendal for our first family gathering in many years. From arrival to being last to leave the area, we were made to feel special. The food was first class especially the vegan basket (including dessert) - truly a gastronomical delight. The live band added just the right amount of mood to an already relaxing atmosphere. Kids had freedom to run around between the two play areas in safety. Highly recommend a picnic at Boschendal to relax and unwind.

All I can say is the best picnic spot in the Cape Winelands! Excellent attentive service. The picnic basket is gourmet, delicious breads, cheese, salads and meats! The basket is beautifully packed and you truly feel special when you start unpacking your surprises! The wine is top-notch and the grounds are manicured lawns with massive oak trees, lots of shade, squirrels and sunshine! You can also enjoy the games they have for you, big Jenga, 0 & X s and others! I highly recommend this day out! It’s gets 5 stars from me!

Great place to take kids. Kids can ride a bike and play on the jungle gyms. Quick service and food was good/reasonably priced. The deli was interesting and had lots to buy from coffees, wines, pastries and bascottis . There's another home deco shop that sells cutlery and crockery, winter wear (hunter boots) etc a great day out with the family . 1 hour away from cape town.. recommended

I took my family to the night market, disappointed the most stalls offered card facilities only. We ended up having to leave after 20min as we could not buy a glass of wine or even a simple boerie roll due to cards only. I have a 4year old little girl, who also wanted to go & play at the tree house facility but that was also closed. I had a very disappointed little girl. They did offer the movie night but my daughter is not of the age to sit through a movie. The setting is beautiful but that's as far as it goes.
